JAY ASHLEY COURTNEY
October 15 2008
Jay Ashley Courtney, age 18, has been blessed with a gift of music. The spirituality of his personhood is expressed in his singing, and is readily appreciated by those who have the privilege of listening to him.
From a very young age, despite being troubled by many childhood ear infections with resulting partial deafness, Jay has ‘perfect pitch’ in various musical keys.
At the age of 10, when staying with my family in USA for 1 year following the death of his grandfather Gerald Courtney, Jay sang at various church and school functions. On several occasions he sang with Uncle Steve’s choir [Boston North Shore Christian Men’s Choir], who were proud of their youngest member. Since that time, schooled by the late Philip E. Price [Steve’s brother], Jay has learned to sing to all age groups, at small and large gatherings.

His rendition of “I’ll walk with God” astounded the congregants at Phil’s funeral in August…..that such a mature and impassioned voice could come from such a little frame!
"Jay Ashley!" as his grandmother Norah Courtney addresses him when she needs to command his attention, is now singing with the tenors of the Blaenavon Male Choir, Wales.
I trust that you will be blessed by his talent as you listen to jay sing on this CD.
"Watch this space!"
